Backstory:
Somber Grammar, a band formed by three high school friends – lead singer and guitarist, Caleb Myers, bassist, Emma Hall, and drummer, Max Peterson. As individuals, they shared a love for obscure indie rock bands and English literature. Caleb, an ardent poet, was notorious for correcting grammatical errors in English essays, while Emma and Max were always the first to be called on by teachers for their exceptional understanding of language and its many nuances. The name “Somber Grammar” was thus a nod to their shared love for language and their shared affinity for the melancholic elements of life and music. They started creating music in Caleb’s garage after school, their shared creativity and unique interpretation of life and its emotions ultimately leading to their debut album, “Grammar Lessons.”

Title:
“Comma In the Rain”
Song Lyrics:
(Verse)
Em C
Walking down this lonely street
G D
I saw a comma in the rain
Em C
Lost and forgotten,
G D
Like my pain
(Chorus)
Em C
Comma, oh comma, where is your clause?
G D
Are you as lost as I am, without a cause?
Em C
In this somber grammar of life and love,
G D
You’re the pause I’m dreaming of.
(Verse)
Em C
In the sentences of life,
G D
You’re a break, a respite
Em C
Yet in the downpour so rife,
G D
You’re my guiding light
(Chorus)
Em C
Comma, oh comma, don’t wash away,
G D
Stay with me, through the gray,
Em C
In this somber grammar of life and love,
G D
You’re the pause my heart’s made of.
