Starchy Pity

Backstory:

Starchy Pity is an unlikely group of musicians who found each other in the heart of the Midwestern United States, in the quiet cornfields of Iowa. The band members, comprising of a former truck driver, an old school music teacher, a disgruntled farmer, and a college dropout, united over their shared love for music and their yearning for a life beyond the vast fields of corn and wheat. Having spent most of their lives under the shade of their starchy produce, Starchy Pity emerged as a musical rebellion, a testament to their unfulfilled dreams, the melancholy of stagnation, and the hope that music brought to their lives.

Despite hailstorms, droughts, and many a broken tractor, the band kept their spirits up, channeling their shared hardships into their music. Their first break came when a video of an impromptu jamming session went viral on social media, bringing them into the limelight. Today, they tour across the country, bringing their unique sound and heartfelt stories to fans everywhere.

Title:
“Dusty Dreams”

Lyrics:

[Verse 1: G-C-D-Em]
(G) Out here in the middle of the golden fields,
(C) Where the sun sets low and the earth yields,
(D) Trapped in the tires, the sweat, and the grime,
(Em) We found a rhythm, we found a rhyme.

[Chorus: C-G-D-Em]
(C) Dusty dreams, starchy pity,
(G) Born and bred in a cornfield city.
(D) We strum our guitars under the moonlight,
(Em) Singing of love, loss, and the endless fight.

[Verse 2: G-C-D-Em]
(G) The stars above, the dirt below,
(C) We’ve got stories that nobody knows,
(D) Of the trucker’s journey, the teacher’s song,
(Em) The farmer’s worries, the dropout’s wrong.

[Chorus: C-G-D-Em]
(C) Dusty dreams, starchy pity,
(G) Born and bred in a cornfield city.
(D) We strum our guitars under the moonlight,
(Em) Singing of love, loss, and the endless fight.

[Bridge: Em-C-G-D]
(Em) We’re not just a band, we’re brothers in arms,
(C) Sharing our joys, sharing our harms,
(G) Life may be tough, but it’s our song,
(D) And we’ll keep on singing, all day long.

[Chorus: C-G-D-Em]
(C) Dusty dreams, starchy pity,
(G) Born and bred in a cornfield city.
(D) We strum our guitars under the moonlight,
(Em) Singing of love, loss, and the endless fight.

Fan Testimonial:

“I’m Martha from Des Moines, as an Iowa native, Starchy Pity is more than a band to me. Their music speaks volumes about the love, the pain, and the struggles of rural America. The lyrics of their songs are my life, my joys, and my tribulations. I’ve been to all their concerts within a 200-mile radius and have every single one of their albums. Their song, ‘Dusty Dreams’, is my anthem, my ode to the life I’ve lived. I love Starchy Pity because they’ve put our small town lives on the map, and have made our stories, our hopes, and our starchy pity, a shared sentiment across America.”
