Sugary Marketing

1. Backstory:
The inception of the band ‘Sugary Marketing’ took place in a small garage in the heart of Boston in 2017. College friends; Sam “Sweet-Talk” Thompson, a Marketing major, and Greg “Gelato” Gallagher, a Music Theory major, found themselves frustrated with the deceptive allure of modern marketing tactics. They decided to channel their frustrations into music, creating a unique blend of catchy melodies and sharp, satirical lyrics. Adding drummer Gina “Gin-Gin” Milano and bassist Larry “Lollipop” Lawson to the mix, Sugary Marketing was born.

The band quickly gained recognition locally for their vibrant pop-rock sound and cutting-edge commentary on consumer culture. They soon caught the attention of indie label, ‘Shiny Penny Records’, who offered them a contract. Their debut album, ‘The Jingle Jangle of Capitalism’, was a smash success, earning them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim.

2. Music Genre:
Sugary Marketing is best known for their biting Indie Pop-Rock style infused with elements of Punk and New Wave.

3. Song Title:
“Buy Me a Dream”

4. Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
In the city of plastic and neon lights,
Where dreams are sold in pretty little bites.
They sell you love, they sell you smiles,
Dressed in the latest and trendiest styles.

(Chorus)
Oh, won’t you buy me a dream,
One that fits in a glossy magazine.
Oh, won’t you buy me a lie,
That’s sweet as sugar and as high as the sky.

(Verse 2)
In the world of hashtags and viral trends,
Where the story begins only when it ends.
They sell you fame, they sell you time,
In the currency of likes, isn’t it sublime?

(Chorus)
Oh, won’t you buy me a dream,
One that shines like a silver screen.
Oh, won’t you buy me a lie,
That’s sweet as sugar and never says goodbye.

(Bridge)
In the supermarket of life, we’re just commodities,
Packed and priced, oh such oddities.
In the end, what are we buying,
But shiny promises, sweet and undying?

(Chorus)
Oh, won’t you buy me a dream,
One that glows with a golden gleam.
Oh, won’t you buy me a lie,
That’s sweet as sugar and never lets us die.

(Outro)
In the world of sugary marketing,
We’re dancing to the tunes they’re barking.
Oh, won’t you buy me a dream,
In this world that’s not as sweet as it seems.
