Tasty Toothpaste

1. Backstory
Tasty Toothpaste was formed in a small midwestern town in 1997. The three members, Josh “Crest” Creighton, Larry “Listerine” Lister and Billy “Bucky” Brush, were high school friends who used to jam together in Billy’s garage after school. Crest, a gifted songwriter with a knack for catchy hooks, dreamed of making it big in the music industry. Listerine, an expert bass player, and Bucky, a talented drummer, were more than willing to go along for the ride. The band chose the name Tasty Toothpaste as a nod to their shared childhood memory of sneaking into the bathroom to eat flavored toothpaste.

Following a decade of relentless touring and four well-received albums, Tasty Toothpaste finally caught their big break in 2009 when their single “Minty Melody” hit number one on the Billboard charts. Today, they are known for their energetic live performances and relatable, tongue-in-cheek lyrics.

“Cavity-Free Heart”

4. Full Song Lyrics
(Verse 1)
I got no cavities, my smile’s bright and clean,
But my heart has been corroded, by a love that’s been mean.
She was sugar sweet, but she left a bitter taste,
Just like the cheap toothpaste, her love was such a waste.

(Chorus)
With a cavity-free heart, I’m ready to restart,
Smiling in the mirror, while inside I fall apart.
I’ll brush away the pain, rinse and repeat the art,
Of keeping a cavity-free heart.

(Verse 2)
I’ve got dental floss, to clean out all the debris,
To cut away the string, that she once tied on me.
I spit out the past, no longer in a daze,
Like a mouth rinsing, washing away her trace.

(Chorus)
With a cavity-free heart, I’m ready to depart,
From the love that decayed, leaving me torn apart.
I’ll smile through the pain, she was no sweetheart,
I’m keeping a cavity-free heart.

(Bridge)
Toothpaste on my brush, like love, not too much,
You left a tart aftertaste, missing your warm touch.
I’ll replace the tube, start fresh, it’s not that hard,
Here’s to my renewed, cavity-free heart.

(Chorus)
With a cavity-free heart, I’m ready for a new start,
Wiping away the tear stains, from when we had to part.
I’ll keep on brushing, till I find a sweetheart,
To fill my cavity-free heart.
