Backstory:
Tepid Marketing formed in a suburban garage in the heart of New Jersey in 2011. The band is composed of four high school friends: lead vocalist and keyboardist, Andrew “Drew” Baxter, the eccentric guitarist, Tommy “Tom” Gallagher, the deep-thinker bassist, Luke “Lucas” McDonnell, and the jolly drummer, Jake “Jay” Patterson.
Their music journey started when they decided to vent their frustrations about their nine-to-five office jobs through music. The band name, Tepid Marketing, is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on their experience in the corporate world, where they felt trapped in mundane and uninspiring marketing roles. Their songs are often satirical takes on corporate life, interspersed with themes of dreams, freedom, and occasionally, love.

Title:
“Cubicles and Coffee Mugs”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C G Am E
Morning sun rises, in cubicles we’re confined,
F C G
Another day in this corporate grind.
C G Am E
Ties that choke, smiles that are fake,
F C G
How much more can we take?
(Chorus)
Am G F C
Cubicles and coffee mugs, dreams are on the run,
Am G F
Chasing freedom, chasing sun,
C G Am
In this world of profit, no place for fun.
(Verse 2)
C G Am E
Numbers dance, in spreadsheets we hide,
F C G
Selling products, swallowing our pride.
C G Am E
Memorandums, emails, meetings galore,
F C G
Is this all life has in store?
(Chorus)
Am G F C
Cubicles and coffee mugs, still we’re on the run,
Am G F
Chasing moments, chasing sun,
C G Am
In this world of profit, no place for fun.
Bridge:
F G Am
Oh, let’s take off our ties, let’s lift our mugs,
F G Am
To dreams we chase ‘neath the corporate rugs.
(Chorus)
Am G F C
Cubicles and coffee mugs, life’s but a pun,
Am G F
Chasing shadows, chasing sun,
C G Am
In this world of profit, no place for fun.
Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is Rosie Thompson, a graphic designer from New York City. Rosie discovered Tepid Marketing during a small gig in her city and immediately connected with their raw, satirical take on corporate life. In her testimonial, she says, “As someone who also works in a corporate job, their music not only resonates with me, it also provides a much-needed comic relief. The band’s clever lyrics and high-energy performances make them my go-to music choice after a long day at work. They not only express my daily frustrations but also remind me that it’s okay to chase my dreams outside the concrete jungle.”
