Thrifty Constituent was formed in 2002 in the college dorms of Northeastern University, Boston. The founding members, Mark “Thrifty” Thorne, James “Constituent” Cook, and Casey “The Judge” Judson, were each studying different fields (Economics, Political Science, and Music respectively), but found a common ground in their love for music. The band’s unique name, Thrifty Constituent, was a playful nod to their fields of study, embodying the essence of budgeting and democracy.

Starting as a casual jam band, they quickly realized their music resonated with their peers. Their thought-provoking lyrics, often commenting on the socio-economic and political climate, coupled with a refreshing sound, made them stand out. After finishing their studies, they decided to pursue their music career full-time and have been making waves in the indie rock scene ever since.
