Backstory:
Troubled Scene was born out of the eclectic and eccentric town of Asheville, North Carolina. The four members, lead vocalist and guitarist Jackson “Jax” Greene, bassist Nicky “Nix” Ruffalo, drummer Benny “Benz” Hayes, and keyboardist Sarah “Sera” Mitchell, met during their time at the Asheville School of Music. Each brought their unique music backgrounds into the mix, from Jax’s bluesy roots, Nix’s love for punk rock, Benz’s jazz influence, and Sera’s classical training. They found common ground in their shared admiration for the power of music to express the complexity of human emotions, particularly those that stem from struggle.
In 2014, Troubled Scene started playing at local bars and small venues around Asheville, quickly gaining a loyal fanbase for their raw, emotional performances and the authentic connection they established with their audience. Their name reflects their shared belief that everyone has a troubled scene in their life, and they aspire to provide a soundtrack for those navigating their way through it.
