Backstory:
Ugly Planet was formed in 2011 by four childhood friends in the heartland of Kansas. Jacob “Jake” Turner (vocals, guitar), Nathan “Nate” Schmidt (guitar, backing vocals), Eric “Ricky” Nelson (bass), and Mark “Marky” Forbes (drums) huddled together in their small town basements to escape the monotony of rural life. They bonded over a shared disillusionment with the world’s increasingly chaotic socio-political landscape, expressing this sentiment through their music. Their name, Ugly Planet, was coined as a nod to their perception of the world around them.
After working diligently on their sound for over two years, the band’s big break came when they were discovered by a talent scout at a local fair in 2013. Their unique style and gritty sound resonated with audiences and they quickly gained a loyal fanbase. Ugly Planet continues to make waves, using their music as a platform to comment on the world’s “ugliness” while hoping to inspire change.
Genre:
Ugly Planet’s musical style can best be classified as Punk Rock with a twist of Alternative.
Title:
“Broken Mirrors”
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1: (G, D, Am, C)
Wake up to another day, (G, D)
Same old story, different play, (Am, C)
In the mirror, what I see, (G, D)
Reflections of a world in disarray. (Am, C)
Chorus: (Em, C, G, D)
Broken mirrors on the wall, (Em, C)
Reflect a world that’s about to fall, (G, D)
But we stand tall, won’t let it crawl, (Em, C)
In the rubble, we’ll find it all. (G, D)
Verse 2: (G, D, Am, C)
Look around, what do you see? (G, D)
Broken dreams or possibility? (Am, C)
Through the chaos, through the noise, (G, D)
We’ll find a way to regain our voice. (Am, C)
Chorus: (Em, C, G, D)
Broken mirrors on the wall, (Em, C)
Reflect a world that’s about to fall, (G, D)
But we stand tall, won’t let it crawl, (Em, C)
In the rubble, we’ll find it all. (G, D)
