Backstory:
Untimely Food was originally a group of four college buddies from Syracuse, New York, who spent their downtime jamming in their shared kitchen. The band’s name came from a shared experience of constantly eating ‘untimely meals’ as students. Their untraditional eating habits were as eclectic as the music they played. The bandmates – Ben on lead vocals, Jon on lead guitar, Pete on drums, and Andrew on bass – found a unique blend of their music tastes, which resulted in a sound that was both unconventional and refreshing. They started by performing at local dives and university events, slowly building a loyal following within the Syracuse region.
One fateful night, a music producer from a prestigious record label happened to be in attendance at one of their gigs. He was captivated by their sound and recognized their potential. Within weeks, Untimely Food was signed, and they embarked on a journey that took them from their college kitchen to some of the biggest stages in the country.

Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Staring at the fridge light, [C] it’s half past midnight
[Em] Hungry for a taste, [D] but it just don’t feel right
[G] The world’s asleep while [C] we’re awake
[Em] Finding solace in a [D] chocolate cake.
(Chorus)
[G] Fridge light serenade, [C] we dance in the quiet haze
[Em] Stale bread and cold spaghetti, [D] these are our best days
[G] We laugh, we sing, we [C] make it loud
[Em] Under the fridge light, [D] we’re unbound.
(Verse 2)
[G] Leftovers take on a [C] different taste
[Em] As we navigate this [D] late-night space
[G] Life’s sweet and sour, [C] we’ve found
[Em] In the glow, [D] no shadows around.
(Chorus)
[G] Fridge light serenade, [C] our anthem in the haze
[Em] Cold pizza and day-old sushi, [D] these are our best days
[G] We laugh, we live, we [C] create this sound
[Em] Under the fridge light, [D] we’re profound.
Fan Testimonial – Jenny:
“I have been a fan of Untimely Food since their first gig at our university. Their music, filled with playful lyrics and catchy hooks, is a breath of fresh air. But it’s the way that they capture the essence of our youth, especially the late-night antics, the shared meals, and the raw, vibrant energy of those years, that makes me feel connected to them. They have this incredible ability to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. Their song, ‘Fridge Light Serenade’, particularly resonates with me. It’s a beautiful, nostalgic tribute to our shared experiences. That’s why Untimely Food is my favorite band. Their music isn’t just songs, they are memories.”
