Used Pensioner

Backstory:
Born out of a suburban garage in Austin, Texas, ‘Used Pensioner’ began as a group of retired friends seeking an outlet for their decades-long passion for music and performance. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into a dedicated effort to create a unique sound in the music industry. The band, which consists of three lifelong friends – John, a retired Marine, on the drums; Bill, a former electrician, strumming the bass; and Ed, a retired high school music teacher, tickling the ivories – concocts their musical magic in an old shed in John’s backyard. Their unique experiences and insights due to their age and varied life journeys have transformed ‘Used Pensioner’ into far more than just a band; they are storytellers representing a generation that refuses to be silenced.

Genre:
Used Pensioner blends elements of blues, rock, and folk to create a genre that can best be described as ‘Vintage Rock.’

Title:
“Rusted Chains”

Song Lyrics:
[Intro] G – D – Em – C

(Verse 1)
[G] In the twilight of my years, [D] I’ve seen joy, I’ve seen tears,
[Em] Lived a life that was full, [C] with some push, with some pull.
[G] Worked a job, raised a kin, [D] took some losses, took some wins,
[Em] Now I’m here, guitar in hand, [C] playing tunes with my old band.

(Chorus)
[G] Rusted chains can’t hold us down, [D] we’re singing loud, we’re Austin bound,
[Em] Life’s a song, won’t you sing along, [C] with this old man’s soulful sound.
[G] Rusted chains of time and age, [D] won’t confine us to a cage,
[Em] We’re still here, we’re still loud, [C] singing songs, making our crowd proud.

(Verse 2)
[G] We’ve been called Used Pensioner, [D] but we’re fighters, not surrenderers,
[Em] We’ve got stories, we’ve got time, [C] Got the rhythm, got the rhyme.
[G] Our hearts are old but hands still strong, [D] as we strum this life’s sweet song,
[Em] We’re not just old, we’re gold, my friend, [C] Playing music till the end.

(Repeat Chorus)
[G] Rusted chains can’t hold us down, [D] we’re singing loud, we’re Austin bound,
[Em] Life’s a song, won’t you sing along, [C] with this old man’s soulful sound.
[G] Rusted chains of time and age, [D] won’t confine us to a cage,
[Em] We’re still here, we’re still loud, [C] singing songs, making our crowd proud.

Outro:
[G] So here’s to life, here’s to love, [D] here’s to what we’re all made of,
[Em] Rusted chains, set us free, [C] To be the best that we can be.
