Backstory:
Whopping Generation is the creation of four high school friends from Austin, Texas. The quartet, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Sam Mitchell, bassist Tom Ramos, drummer Jake Walters, and keyboardist Alice Monroe, were regular fixtures at their school’s annual music fest. After receiving rapturous applause for their performance of an original song during their senior year, they decided to form Whopping Generation. They named the band based on their desire to deliver ‘whopping,’ or significant, changes in the music industry.
The band gained local popularity through their performances at small music bars and open mic nights. After their song “Summer’s Over” went viral on YouTube, they caught the attention of a local music producer who signed them to a record label. Their debut album was a commercial success, and they’ve been climbing the charts and making waves throughout the nation ever since.
