Backstory:
Willing Type was born in the heart of Nashville, in a small basement where four university friends started jamming, looking for an escape from their monotonous studies. The friends, namely, Jake Hanson on lead vocals and guitar, Liam Sullivan on Drums, Sophie Evans on Bass, and Sam Wills on Keyboard, bonded over their shared love for music and storytelling. Over countless late-night jam sessions, they discovered a unique style that was a fusion of old-school rock sounds with a flavor of blues, creating something both refreshing and nostalgic. In 2012, they played their first gig at a local university festival and the crowd’s response confirmed what they already felt deep within – they were meant for this.
In the subsequent years, Willing Type gained popularity through local gigs, music festivals, and online platforms, thanks to their catchy tunes and relatable lyrics. They released their debut album, “Whispers of the Heart” in 2015. The band’s music, raw and heartfelt, resonates with listeners, making them a popular choice amongst the younger generation who identify with their soulful melodies and lyrics.
