Backstory:
Willing Verse is an ethereal brainchild of five childhood friends from the small town of Stratford, Connecticut. Founded in 2009, the band members – Eliot (lead vocals, guitar), Grace (drums), Leon (bass), Arthur (keyboard), and Rose (back vocals, violin) – were all high school classmates who shared a common passion for music and storytelling. They started as a garage band, playing at school functions, local events, and gradually moved onto larger venues as they began to make a name for themselves. Fueled by their shared dream of making it big in the music industry, Willing Verse has remained true to their humble roots, crafting music that speaks with honesty and a unique emotional resonance.
Genre:
Willing Verse creates music that is often classified as Indie Folk-Rock. Their music carries the melancholic narratives of folk music enriched with the energy of rock. The band’s trademark sound is characterized by deep, soulful lyrics, intricate guitar riffs, and enchanting violin melodies.
Title:
“Echoes of Yesterday”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] I walked down [D] memory lane today,
[Em] Saw all our dreams [C] fading away.
[G] The house we built, [D] the tree we climbed,
[Em] All seem like [C] echoes of yesterday.
(Chorus)
[G] But I won’t [D] let it fade,
[Em] Won’t let our memories [C] decay.
[G] I’ll keep them [D] safe within,
[Em] Till we find [C] our way back someday.
(Verse 2)
[G] Do you remember [D] the stars we named?
[Em] The tales of love [C] and games we played?
[G] They live in the whispers [D] of the wind,
[Em] In the echoes [C] of yesterday.
(Chorus)
[G] And I won’t [D] let them go,
[Em] I’ll keep them safe [C] in the shadows.
[G] Till the day [D] we meet again,
[Em] And relive [C] our echoes of yesterday.
Bridge:
[Am] We were young, [C] we were bold,
[G] With hearts aflame, [D] stories untold.
[Am] Time may pass, [C] seasons may change,
[G] But our echoes [D] will never age.
(Chorus)
[G] So till the day [D] we come home,
[Em] I’ll keep our echoes [C] in a song.
[G] Sing them under [D] the moonlight ray,
[Em] Our immortal [C] echoes of yesterday.
