Woeful Year

Backstory:

Formed amidst the chaos and uncertainty of 2020, Woeful Year is a band that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of resilience, defiance, and hope. Initially, the four members – lead vocalist and guitarist Alan Rivers, drummer Rick Stills, keyboardist Lily Shaw, and bassist Dean Morrow – were scattered across different states. They connected through a virtual open mic event, and their chemistry was so evident that they decided to form a band. They recorded their first songs remotely, each contributing their parts from their respective locations. This unique origin story adds a layer of authenticity to their music, which resonates deeply with their fast-growing fanbase.

Genre:

Woeful Year dabbles in Indie Rock with a hint of Blues, giving their music a raw, emotional edge. Their sound is characterized by gritty guitar riffs, moody keyboard melodies, dynamic drum patterns, and poignant lyrics.

Title:

“Flames in the Rain”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em
In the city’s pulsing veins,
C
We found love, we felt the pain,
G
Our hearts danced to a woeful refrain,
D
Like lonely flames in the rain.

(Chorus)
G D
Oh, we were the flames in the rain,
Em C
Burning bright, undying, uncontained.
G D
In the echoes of the night, we stake our claim,
Em C
We were the flames, the flames in the rain.

(Verse 2)
Em
As the year took its toll,
C
We found solace in rock and roll,
G
In the melody, we found a common goal,
D
A spark that ignited our soul.

(Chorus)
G D
Oh, we are the flames in the rain,
Em C
In a world gone cold, we remain.
G D
In the symphony of life, we play our game,
Em C
We are the flames, the flames in the rain.
