Yellowish Assistant

Backstory:

Yellowish Assistant burst onto the music scene in the early 2000s from the underground music world of Boston. The band was formed by four childhood friends – Mike Carpenter (Lead Guitarist), Ronnie Whitman (Vocalist), Steve Rogers (Drummer), and George McGill (Bassist) all of whom shared a love for unconventional music and an indomitable spirit that refused to bow down to societal norms. They started playing in their parents’ basements, moved up to local bars, and before they knew it, they were touring the country, their unique sound resonating with millions of fans.

Their name, Yellowish Assistant, was inspired by a poster of a 1960s office secretary in a yellow dress they found in Mike’s attic. It represented, in their eyes, the unsung hero, the one who is always there, helping, supporting, but often unnoticed. It was this persona that they wanted their music to encapsulate – an unconventional voice that speaks to the masses, without being at the forefront.

Title:

“Chasing Shadows”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse – Am, Em, G, D)
Am
She’s like a dream, a silhouette in the dark
Em
A muse on an empty canvas, a masterpiece in the making
G
The echo of her laughter still lingers in my heart
D
Oh, I’m just a man, Chasing Shadows in the park

(Chorus – C, G, Am, F)
C
Chasing Shadows, under the moonlight
G
In the dance of the stars, I lost my fight
Am
I was a fool, in the game of love so cruel
F
Now, I’m just a man, Chasing Shadows in the night

(Verse – Am, Em, G, D)
Am
Her memories are etched, like ink on a page
Em
Haunting me in sleep, a lullaby in the cage
G
The scent of her love, a sweet but distant sage
D
Oh, I’m just a man, Chasing Shadows with age

(Chorus – C, G, Am, F)
C
Chasing Shadows, under the moonlight
G
In the dance of the stars, I lost my fight
Am
I was a fool, in the game of love so cruel
F
Now, I’m just a man, Chasing Shadows in the night

Testimonial:

Yellowish Assistant is more than a band for me – it’s a voice that speaks for my unspoken thoughts and emotions. Their songs resonate with my soul and make me feel seen. Each beat, each line, each chord speaks directly to my heart. As an indie music lover, I’ve always been drawn to bands that aren’t afraid to break the mold, and Yellowish Assistant does exactly that. Their song “Chasing Shadows” has become an anthem for my life, reminding me to embrace the shadows of my past, rather than trying to escape them. Thank you, Yellowish Assistant, for being the soundtrack of my life.
