Formed in 2012, Zany Author was originally just a trio of English Literature students from Cambridge University – Jack Peters, Alice Hill, and Tim Wright. What started off as a fun project to translate their favorite novels into songs gradually evolved into something far beyond their dorm room shenanigans. One afternoon, they penned down an eerie yet enticing tune based on Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Tell-Tale Heart.’ A casual recording of this song, uploaded on the college forum, caught the attention of a local producer, who immediately recognized their unique talent and offered them their first recording deal.
