Backstory:
Disgusting Paper formed in the eclectic and bohemian heart of Portland, Oregon, in 2004. The band’s core members, childhood friends Marcus “Mars” Atwood and Oliver “Ollie” Brenner, met in the third grade and bonded over their shared love of punk rock, comic books, and a mutual disdain for homework. This disdain spilled over into their rebellious teen years, where they began to question societal norms, leading them to form an unorthodox band that would express their unique worldview. Bringing in drummer, Helen Fielding, and bassist, Jackson “Jax” Moore, the group was complete. Their name, Disgusting Paper, was a cheeky nod to their school years, representing the tedious papers they were asked to write that they deemed ‘disgusting.’

“Bureaucratic Symphony”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Wasting our lives on [D] worthless paper [Em],
[C] Scribbling words that [Am] no one will remember.
[G] Paper cuts on our [D] wounded fingers [Em],
[C] Toiling in a [Am] bureaucratic symphony.
(Chorus)
[G] In the end, it’s [D] all just disgusting paper [Em],
[C] Vanishing like [Am] smoke, fading as the wind blows.
[G] We’re more than [D] just ink on paper [Em],
[C] Screaming out loud, [Am] we won’t be ignored.
(Verse 2)
[G] Trapped in a world full of [D] empty sheets [Em],
[C] Creating art that’s [Am] lost in the streets.
[G] We rise and fall, [D] bound by this system [Em],
[C] But our voices will [Am] break the rhythm.
(Chorus)
[G] In the end, it’s [D] all just disgusting paper [Em],
[C] Fleeting like shadows, [Am] dissolving as the rain falls.
[G] We’re more than [D] just ink on paper [Em],
[C] Cutting through noise, [Am] we will be heard.
Ending Verse:
[G] Disgusting paper, [D] we tear you asunder [Em],
[C] We’re the melody, [Am] the unforgettable thunder.
[G] And as the ink [D] dries and the paper crumbles [Em],
[C] We’ll still be here, [Am] loud, proud, and humble.
