Backstory:
Originating from the small coastal town of Valeria, California, the Somber Sheep came together in a perfectly harmonious storm of melancholic sound and raw, emotive talent. The band consists of childhood friends – lead vocalist, Kip, bassist, Liam, guitarist, Owen, and drummer, Ethan. They found their bond in the shared experience of being outcasts in their school, united by their love for music and their desire to express their emotions through it. Their band name was derived from a shared sense of feeling like ‘somber sheep’, out of place in a world that didn’t understand them.

Title:
“Valeria’s Lament”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Em] Underneath the [G] quiet skies,
[D] Where our dreams [A] used to lie,
[Em] Is our town – [G] Valeria,
[D] Where we learned [A] to laugh and cry.
(Chorus)
[Em] Valeria’s [G] Lament, oh how it [D] goes,
[A] Whispers in the wind, [Em] everyone knows,
[G] Pain in every corner, [D] sorrow in each street,
[A] But in our hearts, only [Em] love will beat.
(Verse 2)
[Em] We’re the children [G] of the scorned,
[D] In our chests, [A] hearts so torn,
[Em] But our music [G] translates hurt,
[D] Into a melody [A] that’s worn.
(Chorus)
[Em] Valeria’s [G] Lament, it sings so [D] loud,
[A] Echoing in the hills, [Em] breaking every cloud,
[G] Every tear we’ve cried, [D] every dream we’ve lost,
[A] In Valeria’s Lament, we bear the [Em] cost.
Fan Testimonial (Fan’s Name: Jessica):
I’ve been a fan of Somber Sheep since their first gig in our High School. Their sound, their lyrics, they speak to me on a deeply personal level. Their song “Valeria’s Lament” encapsulates the town’s shared feeling of longing and hope that resonates with me every time I hear it. I’ve cheered for them, cried with them, and embraced their songs as my personal anthems. Somber Sheep isn’t just a band to me, they’re a lifeline.
