Backstory:
Severe Health was born from the ashes of a group of college friends who were pursuing their individual paths in medicine. Cooper, the lead guitarist, had been studying to become a heart surgeon while Eli, the bassist, was studying to be a psychiatrist, and Flint, the drummer, was an aspiring pediatrician. Their love for music, however, was too strong to be put aside, so they decided to fuse their two passions: medicine and rock. The decision to form Severe Health was made during a late-night study session when the trio realized that music could act as its unique therapy, providing solace to people’s mental and emotional turmoil just like medicine.

The band drew on their medical experiences, transforming their encounters with patients, their pain, their joy, their struggles, and their victories into poignant lyrics paired with powerful, infectious beats. Severe Health quickly gained a following in their college town, but this was only the beginning. The band’s raw honesty, real-life narratives, and exciting performances soon caught the attention of the greater music community, and their rise to national fame was meteoric.
