Backstory:
Testy Curriculum was born out of a shared love for music amongst four high school teachers from Madison, Wisconsin. The band consists of history teacher David ‘Davy’ Harmon on vocals and rhythm guitar, math instructor Stu ‘Numbers’ Cunningham on lead guitar, PE coach Jake ‘The Snake’ Mitchell on drums, and art teacher Janice ‘Splash’ Teague on bass. The group began playing together as a hobby, doing covers of their favorite songs during breaks in the teachers’ lounge.
One day, the school principal overheard them jamming away and suggested they play for a school function. The performance was a hit, and they found themselves a local following. Since then, Testy Curriculum has balanced their day jobs with their passion for music. They’ve gone on to release a few albums and perform at various local venues, bringing their unique blend of rock and roll and educational lyrics to a wider audience.

Title:
“Pythagorean Riff”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C G Am F
Sitting in my class, teaching all day,
C G Am F
Feeling the rhythm, got something to say,
C G Am F
Got a beat in my heart and math on the brain,
C G Am F
In the world of numbers, nothing’s in vain.
(Chorus)
G D Em C
Pythagorean Riff, strikes a chord in my soul,
G D Em C
Teaching the youth, Rock & Roll’s the goal,
G D Em C
In the realm of numbers, we find our bliss,
G D Em C
In the rhythm of the universe, we coexist.
(Verse 2)
C G Am F
Triangles and squares, circles and lines,
C G Am F
In every melody, an equation aligns,
C G Am F
From Fibonacci’s sequence to Euler’s formula,
C G Am F
In the great symphony, we are the orchestra.
(Chorus)
G D Em C
Pythagorean Riff, strikes a chord in my soul,
G D Em C
Teaching the youth, Rock & Roll’s the goal,
G D Em C
In the realm of numbers, we find our bliss,
G D Em C
In the rhythm of the universe, we coexist.
Favorite fan:
Their favorite fan is a former student named Timmy. Timmy was never a fan of math, but the Testy Curriculum managed to combine his passion for music with education. The band’s songs helped him understand and appreciate the subject more.
Timmy’s testimonial:
“Testy Curriculum wasn’t just my teachers; they were the ones who made me love math. Their music made me see math in a whole new light; it was no longer just numbers and equations. It was an art, a melody that harmonized with the rhythm of the universe. Because of them, I didn’t just pass my math class; I aced it. They’re my favorite band, not because they rock (which they absolutely do), but because they made a difference in my life. They made me a better learner, a better student, and a better person.”
