Pure Expense

Backstory:

Pure Expense was formed in 2015 when four friends discovered their shared passion for music at a local karaoke night in New York City. The band is composed of frontman, Jake Dalton, whose powerful voice is complemented by his skill on the guitar. He is backed up by the talented Sara Denison on the bass, the creative Zachary Taylor on the keyboards, and the rhythmic genius of Mike Philips on the drums. The group bonded over their love for vintage rock and the desire to put a modern spin on it, creating a unique sound that quickly caught the attention of listeners in the local music scene.

The journey wasn’t always easy for Pure Expense – they had their share of struggles, including a brief breakup in 2017. However, they managed to overcome their differences and reunite, realizing that their shared love for making music was stronger than any disagreement. They came back stronger and more determined than ever, eventually catching the attention of a record label that helped them release their debut EP.

Song Title:

“Broken Records”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] I’m playing our [Em] old song, [C] on this dusty [D] broken record
[G] It reminds me [Em] of the times, [C] when we were [D] together
[G] Your laughter [Em] filled the room, [C] like a sweet [D] melody
[G] Now, I’m left with [Em] nothing, but [C] shattered pieces [D] of our story.

(Chorus)
[G] Broken records spinning, [D] echo of your laughter ringing
[Em] Our love was like a song, [C] now it’s just a memory
[G] Broken records spinning, [D] in the silence I’m singing
[Em] Our love was once strong, [C] now it’s just a broken melody.

(Verse 2)
[G] The vinyl spins [Em] round and round, [C] just like my [D] thoughts of you
[G] I’m stuck in [Em] the past, [C] while you’re off [D] in somewhere new
[G] Our love song [Em] is fading, [C] but I still [D] hold on to the tune
[G] Cause it’s the only [Em] thing I have, [C] the only part [D] of you.

(Chorus)
[G] Broken records spinning, [D] echo of your laughter ringing
[Em] Our love was like a song, [C] now it’s just a memory
[G] Broken records spinning, [D] in the silence I’m singing
[Em] Our love was once strong, [C] now it’s just a broken melody.

Amy’s Testimonial:

“Pure Expense is more than just a band to me. Their music has gotten me through some really tough times. I remember when I first heard ‘Broken Records’, I was going through a difficult breakup. The lyrics resonated so deeply with what I was feeling, it was as if they had put my emotions into words. Their songs are not just catchy tunes, they are stories and emotions that connect with the listener. There’s something very raw and genuine about the way they make music, it’s like they’re sharing a piece of their soul with us. That’s what makes them my favorite band.”
