Backstory:
Barren Brick is an ensemble of four childhood friends hailing from the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, England. The band was formed in a disused warehouse, where they found an old, rusty guitar and a pair of worn-out drumsticks, which served as a symbolic birth of their dreams. The name ‘Barren Brick’ was inspired by the abandoned brick warehouse they occupied, which later became their first studio. Over the years, their music journey has been a fusion of inspiration, hardship, and sheer will.
The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist, Jeremy “Jet” Thompson, bassist and backing vocalist, Richard “Ricky” Simmons, drummer, Oscar “Ozzy” Huntington, and pianist, Daniel “Danny” Clarke. They attribute their eclectic sound to their diverse musical influences, ranging from classic rock and blues to punk and alternative indie.

Title:
“Shards of the Past”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1 – Am, F, C, G)
Am F C G
We found our voice, in a barren brick,
Am F C G
Echoed the dreams, old walls did trick.
Am F C G
In the shards of the past, we found a way,
Am F C G
To sing our hearts, come what may.
(Chorus – F, G, Am, Em)
F G Am Em
Every note we play, every word we say,
F G Am Em
Is a piece of us, in the shards of the day.
(Verse 2 – Am, F, C, G)
Am F C G
Through the chaos, through the storm,
Am F C G
Music was our shield, our form.
Am F C G
On the strings of time, we strummed along,
Am F C G
To the rhythm of life, a never-ending song.
(Chorus – F, G, Am, Em)
F G Am Em
Every beat we feel, every tale we reveal,
F G Am Em
Is a piece of us, in the shards that heal.
(Bridge – Dm, Am, G, F)
Dm Am G F
In the barren brick, we found our sound,
Dm Am G F
In the shards of the past, our souls were bound.
