Backstory:
Boiling Knife was formed in the bustling city of Los Angeles, California, in 2010. The band was born from a late-night conversation between longtime friends, lead singer and guitarist Matt “Sparks” Jones, and drummer Danny “Dynamite” Kim. Both working in different bands at the time, they decided to take a leap of faith and start a project that truly reflected their shared vision and personal musical style. Pulling in bassist Lucy “Luna” Vasquez and keyboardist Peter “Phantom” Smith, the Boiling Knife was finally complete, ready to bring their unique sound to the world.
Two years into their journey, their breakout single “Scorching Shadows” dominated the charts – an unexpected feat for a band that only existed within the confines of their garage just years prior. The band’s pure passion for music and their undeniably captivating sound quickly earned them a dedicated fan base. Even with their growing popularity, Boiling Knife stayed true to their roots, maintaining their gritty style and raw live performances that initially won their fans over.
Genre:
Boiling Knife’s music falls into the genre of Indie Rock with subtle influences of Alternative and Punk.
Title:
“Burning Bridges”
Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Standing on the edge of this [D] crumbling road,
[Em] Looking back at the bridges I [C] used to hold,
[G] Flames dance in the night, [D] casting wicked shadows,
[Em] Reflecting on the choices, I [C] made so hollow.
(Chorus)
[G] Burning bridges, [D] no looking back,
[Em] Walking on the ashes of the [C] past,
[G] Our memories [D] are fading fast,
[Em] In this world of changing tide, [C] nothing lasts.
(Verse 2)
[G] Faces and places, [D] lost in the smoke,
[Em] Aching hearts and broken dreams, [C] all a cruel joke.
[G] The river of time, [D] doesn’t stop its flow,
[Em] Left with the echoes, [C] of what I used to know.
(Chorus)
[G] Burning bridges, [D] no looking back,
[Em] Walking on the ashes of the [C] past,
[G] Our memories [D] are fading fast,
[Em] In this world of changing tide, [C] nothing lasts.
[C] In the end, we’re all just [G] stories in the past.
