Broken Diet

Backstory:

Bursting with color, quirk, and a little bit of rebellion, Broken Diet formed in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts in late 2010. The band, originally a trio consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Max “Maxy” Gordon, bass player Sam “Snack Pack” Peterson, and drummer Brian “Biscuit” Millers, were all childhood friends who loved making music together. Their name, “Broken Diet,” pays homage to the numerous late-night snacks they enjoyed while creating music during their college years. They added their fourth member, Lily “Lollipop” Johnson, a talented keyboardist in 2012, and it was her unique sound that propelled the band to new heights.

Broken Diet’s music quickly caught the attention of the local music scene, and they became known for their infectious energy, distinctive sound, and memorable live performances. They released their self-titled debut album in 2013, which put them on the map as one of Boston’s most promising new bands.

“Crumbs on the Counter”

Full Song Lyrics with Chord Progression:

(Verse 1, C-G-Am-F)
C G
Late at night, under the city lights,
Am F
We found a little bit of paradise,
C G
In the corner of a diner, making a mess,
Am F
With crumbs on the counter and love in our chest.

(Chorus, F-C-G-Am)
F
We’re just like a broken diet,
C
Always planning to try it,
G
But ending up with crumbs on the counter,
Am
And love that’s louder and louder.

(Verse 2, C-G-Am-F)
C G
Midnight laughs, over coffee and graphs,
Am F
On napkins, dreams sketched out in drafts,
C G
In the heart of the city, under neon signs,
Am F
With crumbs on the counter, love’s sweet designs.

(Chorus, F-C-G-Am)
F
We’re just like a broken diet,
C
Can’t resist even if we try it,
G
Left with crumbs on the counter,
Am
And love growing stronger and stronger.

(Bridge, Am-G-F-C)
Am
With every crumb, we leave our mark,
G
Under moonlight or in the dark,
F
In a world that’s bitter and sour,
C
We’ve found a love that’s sweet power.

(Chorus, F-C-G-Am)
F
We’re just like a broken diet,
C
I wouldn’t change it, even if I try it,
G
With crumbs on the counter,
Am
And a love that’s prouder and prouder.

(Outro, C-G-Am-F)
C G
In the end, it’s just you and me,
Am F
And love, as sweet as it can be,
C G
With crumbs on the counter,
Am F
And a love that’s louder, louder, louder…

Band’s Favorite Fan:

Our favorite fan is Jenny Thompson. She’s been with us since our very first gig in a small, barely known club in Boston. She’s always front and center at every concert, sporting our band merch, and singing along to every song. Her favorite? “Crumbs on the Counter,” of course.

Jenny’s Testimonial:

“There’s something magical about Broken Diet’s music. It’s like they’ve captured the essence of youth, love, and rebellion and turned it into a melody. Their songs always leave me feeling energized and inspired. I’ve loved watching them grow as a band, and I can’t wait to see where their music takes them next!”
