Brown Arm

Backstory:
Brown Arm was formed in 2004 in the city of Seattle, Washington. The band was a culmination of four childhood friends – Jake Sullivan on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Kyle Peters on lead guitar, Max Thompson on bass, and Ben Allen on drums – who shared a common love for classic rock and the grunge movement. The group was named Brown Arm, a reference to their rugged and earthy style of music, as well as their blue-collar roots. They spent their early years playing at local gigs and in their garage, honing their sound and building a small but dedicated fanbase.

In 2007, they caught the attention of an indie record label, Pacific Records, after a scintillating performance at a local music festival. This turning point led them to record their first album, which was highly acclaimed for its raw energy and innovative sound. Since then, Brown Arm has released four more albums and has risen to become one of the most influential alternative rock bands of their time.

Title:
“Against the Grain”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] I’ve been walking this road, [C] all on my own
[Em] Chasing shadows, [D] all alone
[G] Faced the storm, [C] against the grain
[Em] Still standing, [D] despite the pain

(Chorus)
[G] Against the grain we fight, [C] into the night
[Em] We’re the sons of sacrifice [D] and silent cries
[G] Against the grain we ride, [C] with pride inside
[Em] We’re the echoes of a life, [D] lost in time

(Verse 2)
[G] A canvas of dreams, [C] painted with scars
[Em] Chasing destiny, [D] among the stars
[G] We bear the load, [C] against the grain
[Em] Still pushing, [D] through the rain

(Chorus)
[G] Against the grain we fight, [C] into the night
[Em] We’re the sons of sacrifice [D] and silent cries
[G] Against the grain we ride, [C] with pride inside
[Em] We’re the echoes of a life, [D] lost in time

Favorite Fan:
Their favorite fan is a woman named Lucy Mitchell. Lucy has been with them since the early days, attending their garage gigs and helping them distribute homemade CDs. She’s followed the band’s growth from local venues to sold-out arenas, never missing a show in the Pacific Northwest. She even has a tattoo of the band’s logo on her shoulder.

Lucy’s Testimonial:
“I fell in love with Brown Arm’s music the first time I heard it. It was raw, authentic, and resonated with my soul. Their lyrics, especially, hit home. It feels like they’ve taken my emotions and put them into song. Every album they’ve released has been a reflection of my journey. I can’t imagine my life without their music.”
