Backstory:
Formed in the murky depths of the New York underground music scene in 2004, Complex Shame was the result of a chance meeting between two disillusioned musicians: Lily Robinson, a classically trained pianist frustrated with the constraints of traditional music and Johnny “Crimson” Miller, a self-taught guitarist with a penchant for experimental sounds. After bonding over their shared dissatisfaction and desire to push boundaries, they decided to fuse their contrasting styles into something entirely new, and thus Complex Shame was born.
Over the years, the band has undergone a few line-up changes, with Robinson and Miller always remaining at the core. The current line-up includes drummer, Danny “Sparks” O’Sullivan, and bassist, Zoe “Ziggy” Zhang, adding a new dimension to the band’s sound through their unique fusion of jazz and punk influences. Despite their evolving sound, the band’s mission remains the same: to explore the complexities of human emotion through groundbreaking music.
