Backstory:
Hailing from the quirky town of Portland, Oregon, Courteous Member, came together in the summer of 2007, when lead vocalist and guitarist, Mike Lawrence, bumped into keyboardist, Jenny Conway, at a local farmers market. They started talking about music and realized they shared a common love for indie pop, quirky lyrics, and Britpop influences. They decided to form a band, and after adding drummer, Bill Patterson, and bassist, Sarah Thompson, Courteous Member was born.
After playing numerous local gigs, they caught the attention of a small indie label, which led to the release of their first album, “Polite Society,” in 2009. The band received a moderate amount of success, but it wasn’t until their second album, “Bowing Not Scraping,” that they began to gain a significant following. Their unique take on indie pop, combined with thoughtful lyrics and charming public personas, has earned them a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.

Title:
“Kaleidoscope Heart”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Em] Through the looking glass, [Am] I see your face,
[D] Smiling back at me, [G] in this quiet place.
[Em] Your eyes are like a kaleidoscope, [Am] colors changing in the light,
[D] And I’m lost in them, [G] every single night.
(Chorus)
[C] Kaleidoscope heart, [G] you’re a work of art,
[Am] I’m caught in your spectrum, [Em] right from the start.
[C] With every spin, [G] colors blend,
[Am] My kaleidoscope heart, [Em] will you let me in?
(Verse 2)
[Em] You paint the world, [Am] in hues of love,
[D] And I’m just trying to keep up, [G] with your ethereal dove.
[Em] Your laughter is a melody, [Am] playing on repeat in my mind,
[D] My kaleidoscope heart, [G] in you, beauty I find.
(Chorus)
[C] Kaleidoscope heart, [G] you’re a work of art,
[Am] I’m caught in your spectrum, [Em] right from the start.
[C] With every spin, [G] colors blend,
[Am] My kaleidoscope heart, [Em] will you let me in?
