Backstory:

Formed in the small town of Winchester, England, Defenseless Bell came into existence when four college friends discovered their shared love for music. Charlie Martin, the lead vocalist and guitarist, was a literature student who wrote poetry and played at local cafes. His roommate, Sam Browne, used to play drums for the school band. Sophie Jones, their neighbor, was a computer science student with a secret talent of playing bass, and her childhood friend, Jake Williams, was a business student who had been learning the keyboard since he was five. After a late-night jam session where they discovered their musical chemistry, Defenseless Bell was born.

The band played at various local gigs and slowly gained recognition for their unique sound and poetic lyrics. Their breakthrough came when their song “Corners of my Heart” won a local songwriting competition and caught the attention of Richard Blake, a record producer who signed them to his independent label. With Blake’s guidance, Defenseless Bell released their debut album, which received critical acclaim and catapulted them into the mainstream music scene.
