Backstory:
Direct Grandfather is a band originating from the eclectic town of Asheville, North Carolina in 2015. The three members, Arlo (lead vocals/guitar), Everett (bass/backup vocals), and Miles (drums), were long-time college buddies who found solace in their shared passion for music. Named after an inside joke that only the three understood, Direct Grandfather started off playing in local bars, soon gaining a cult following for their distinctive sound and lyricism which redefined ordinary life experiences into profound narratives.
Their undeniable connection and the raw emotions they portrayed in their music soon caught the attention of a local record label. The band’s breakthrough came with their first studio album “Innocuous Stories,” which garnered critical and commercial success. Despite this, Direct Grandfather’s members remain modest and committed to their original vision – making music for the love of it and for the joy it brings their fans.

“Coffee Stains and Summer Rains”
Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Coffee stains on a [D] worn out page,
[Em] Memories locked in a [C] gilded cage.
[G] Summer rains, they [D] wash away,
[Em] Yet the echoes of your [C] laughter stay.
(Chorus)
[G] Sailing on a [D] sea of dreams,
[Em] Filled with silent [C] midnight screams.
[G] You’re the lighthouse [D] in my days,
[Em] Amidst coffee stains and [C] summer rains.
(Verse 2)
[G] The scent of you on a [D] faded shirt,
[Em] Can’t wash away the [C] lingering hurt.
[G] But the summer rains, they [D] come and go,
[Em] Leaving behind a [C] vibrant rainbow.
(Chorus)
[G] Sailing on a [D] sea of dreams,
[Em] Bearing silent [C] midnight screams.
[G] You’re the lighthouse [D] in my days,
[Em] Amidst coffee stains and [C] summer rains.
