Backstory:
Gripping Chocolate was formed in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, in 2009. The band’s four members – lead singer and guitarist Alex Monde, bassist Ricky Carbone, drummer Danny ‘Funky’ Briggs, and keyboardist Sasha ‘Velvet’ Raposo – all met in high school. Sharing a deep passion for music and a mutual dream of making it big, they decided to form a band, drawing inspiration from their diverse musical influences. The name ‘Gripping Chocolate’ was born from their love for sweets and their desire to create music that ‘grips’ the listener’s heart and soul.
They started by playing small gigs in local clubs, gradually building a reputation for their unique sound and enthralling performances. In 2012, they caught the attention of the founder of Jazzy Records, who signed them on the spot. Since then, they’ve released multiple chart-topping albums and toured around the globe.
