Backstory:
Ignorant Purpose was formed in the small town of Midland, Texas in 2010. The band members, high school friends Thomas Mitchell (lead vocals, guitar), Billy Ray (drums), and Maria Torres (bass, backup vocals), found their escape from the mundane life of their small town through the shared love for music. They named the band ‘Ignorant Purpose’ in ironic jest, a nod towards their rebellious spirit and mutual defiance towards the predictable paths laid out before them. The band gained local recognition through their passionate performances at local fairs and bars, which eventually garnered the attention of a music producer from Austin, springboarding their journey into the larger music scene.
