Backstory:
Impish Troop, a trio of childhood friends from the small town of Bakersfield, California, started their musical journey in the basement of an old brick house during their senior high school year. The rebellious teens, Josh on vocals, Danny on drums, and Richie on the bass, initially just wanted an outlet to escape their conservative hometown’s monotony. But as they began to find their sound and their voice, they realized that what started as a mischievous escape had a potential to become much more. They bonded over shared experiences, an impish sense of humor, and an unconventional approach to music, leading to the birth of their unique band – Impish Troop.

Title: “Skies of Bakersfield”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
In the [Am] heart of a small town, under [G] Bakersfield’s sky,
Three young [F] hearts found an escape, in the [E] music they’d try.
They [Am] strummed on their guitars, beat the [G] drums in the night,
[Am] Dreams in their heads, high as a [E] kite.
(Chorus)
Runnin’ down the [F] road, [C] chasing the sun,
[G] Under the skies of Bakersfield, our [Am] journey’s just begun.
Turn up the [F] music, [C] let it take flight,
[G] We are the Impish Troop, [E] getting you through the night.
(Verse 2)
They said [Am] “Boys, you’re just dreaming, won’t make [G] it that far.”
But [F] music’s a language, we speak with our [E] guitar.
We’re [Am] not just making noise, not another [G] high school band,
We’re the [Am] voice of Bakersfield, hope you’ll [E] understand.
(Chorus)
So we’re hitting the [F] road, [C] chasing our dreams,
[G] Under the skies of Bakersfield, where [Am] nothing’s as it seems.
Turn up the [F] music, [C] let our voices soar,
[G] We are the Impish Troop, [E] can’t ignore us anymore.
