Male Giraffe

Backstory:

Formed in the heart of Brooklyn in 2010, Male Giraffe is a testament to the eclectic and vibrant spirit of the local music scene. Its founding members, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joshua Stern and bassist Ethan Riddle, met at a local open mic night, bonding over a shared appreciation for unconventional music styles. The duo soon recruited the highly skilled drummer, Nina Fortin, and talented lead guitarist, Alec Townsend, completing the quartet. They played at a variety of local venues, honing their unique sound and building a dedicated fanbase before releasing their breakthrough album in 2013.

The name Male Giraffe came from a late-night conversation between Stern and Riddle. After a particularly long jam session, they pondered the giraffe’s long neck, which allows it to feed on the leaves other animals can’t reach, and the band’s desire to reach musical heights yet undiscovered. The ‘Male’ was added for a touch of irony and to honor the band’s original duo.

“Starry Carousel”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Am G F C
Walking through the neon city lights,

Lost among the crowd, chasing the night.

Life’s a starry carousel spinning around,

I’m just a face in the crowd, making my sound.

(Chorus)
G D Em C
On the Starry Carousel, spinning so high,
Am G F Dm
In the heart of the night, under the sky.
G D Em C
This city of dreams, holds much in its spell,
Am G F Dm
We’re just riders along on the Starry Carousel.

(Verse 2)
Am G F C
People come, people go, every face a story,
Dm Am E F
In the city’s glow, each a moment of glory.

Riding through this cosmic roundabout,

Each twist and turn, a new route.

Testimonial:

“I have been a fan of Male Giraffe since their debut. Their music is a breath of fresh air, blending the best of rock with psychedelic pop. The lyrics of their songs, especially ‘Starry Carousel’, resonate with me on a deep level. They capture the city’s vibrancy and the inherent solitude within the crowd so beautifully. I was fortunate to attend one of their early shows, and I have been enchanted ever since. Their live performances are electrifying, and their devotion to their fans is unmatched. They’re not just a band to me, they’re an experience, a journey that I’m thrilled to be a part of.”
