Masculine Insurance

Backstory:

Masculine Insurance started as a college dorm room project between two roommates, Quinton “Q” Miller and Lars “L” Johannson at the Berklee College of Music. Q, a jazz bassist, and L, an alternative rock drummer, soon discovered that their shared love for progressive music and avant-garde art could be combined into something extraordinary. After recruiting Tamara “T” Lopez, a classically trained violinist with a flair for electronic music, and Peter “P” Donovan, a charismatic blues guitarist and singer, they formed Masculine Insurance, a name derived from a random auto-complete text message.

The band initially played at small gigs in Boston’s local music scene. Their unique sound and explosive performances quickly gained them a dedicated fanbase and led to a record deal with an indie label. The band has also gained a reputation for their unpredictable live shows, which often feature surreal stage designs and costume changes.

Genre:

Masculine Insurance’s genre can be best described as Progressive Electronic Fusion – a unique blend of progressive rock, electronic, and jazz with elements of blues and classical music.

Title:

One of their most popular songs is titled “Underwritten Dreams”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse)
Em C
Underwritten dreams, they fade and fray,
G D
In the cold light of day, we got to play.
Em C
Dancing with the shadows, under the moon’s glance,
G D
In this great big cosmic insurance dance.

(Chorus)
Am Em
We’re just a policy, in the hands of fate,
C D
Premiums of love, and deductibles of hate.

(Verse)
Em C
Promises bend, like the willow’s sigh,
G D
In the ink-black night, under starry sky.
Em C
Scars to our hearts, etched by life’s lance,
G D
Yet we spin in this grand insurance dance.

(Chorus)
Am Em
We’re the payout, for the cosmic gamble,
C D
The capsized ship, and the extinguished candle.
