Meaty War, an unexpected and eclectic mix of musicians, emerged from the vibrant and bustling streets of London in the early 2000s. The band consists of lead vocalist and bassist, Calvin “Cal” Henderson, guitarist, Oscar “Ozzy” Mitchell, drummer, Scott “Scotchy” McAllister, and keyboardist, Lily “Lil” Thompson. Their unique band name, a combination of the words ‘meaty’ and ‘war,’ pays an homage to their profound love for barbecues and a reflection of their fight against societal norms, respectively.
Their journey began when Calvin and Scott, who were childhood friends, started jamming in Scott’s garage. They soon met Oscar at a local open mic night, mesmerizing the crowd with his electrifying solo performance. Interested in his talent, they invited Oscar to join the band. Lily was the last one to join the lineup, with her classically trained skills adding a unique flavor to the Meaty War’s sound, cementing their position as a force to be reckoned with.
