Backstory:
Mundane Idea was born in a dusty garage in the small town of Northwich, England, in mid-2008. The band consists of four members: frontman and rhythm guitarist Tommy Colton, lead guitarist and back vocalist Jack Howard, bassist Liam Mercer, and drummer Nick Hartley. The band was formed out of a mutual love for music and a desire to escape the drudgery of their day jobs. They started by jamming on the weekends, with the garage door often open, inviting curious neighbours and passersby to watch. Their riveting performances were a local sensation, and soon they started getting gig invitations from local pubs.
Their journey wasn’t without its trials and tribulations. In the early days, they struggled with creating their unique sound and juggling their day jobs with their passion. Despite these hurdles, they stuck together and used their struggles as inspiration, pouring their hearts and souls into their music. Mundane Idea’s real breakthrough came when they got an opportunity to perform at a music festival in Manchester, earning them a considerable fan following and catching the attention of several record labels.

Title: “Echoes of Tomorrow”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Am| Em | G | D
Life in a small town, dreams of the big crown,
Am| Em | G | D
We tuned our guitars, under the twinkling stars.
Am| Em | G | D
Echoes in the garage, our music, our mirage,
Am| Em | G | D
Bleary-eyed nights, chasing neon lights.
(Chorus)
C | G | Am | F
Echoes of tomorrow, drowned in sorrow,
C | G | Am | F
We’ll keep on fighting, no more hiding,
C | G | Am | F
Our hearts on our sleeves, in music we believe,
C | G | Am | F
Echoes of tomorrow, will banish all our sorrow.
(Verse 2)
Am| Em | G | D
Streets drenched in rain, soothing our pain,
Am| Em | G | D
Strumming our chords, in sync with heart’s words.
Am| Em | G | D
Bass, rhythm, and lead, music is our creed,
Am| Em | G | D
In this mundane world, our stories unfurled.
(Chorus)
C | G | Am | F
Echoes of tomorrow, drowned in sorrow,
C | G | Am | F
We’ll keep on fighting, no more hiding,
C | G | Am | F
Our hearts on our sleeves, in music we believe,
C | G | Am | F
Echoes of tomorrow, will banish all our sorrow.
Fan Testimonial:
The band’s favorite fan is Sarah Granger, a college student from Northwich. She has been following Mundane Idea from their garage days and has attended every gig they had. Sarah says, “Mundane Idea is more than a band to me. Their music got me through some tough times. I connect with their lyrics on a deep, personal level. The raw energy and passion they bring to their performances are simply electrifying. They are my favorite because they keep it real, they remind me that it’s okay to dream, even in the most mundane situations. Their music is a beacon of hope in a world that often feels overwhelmingly mundane.”
