Backstory:
Murky Ground originated in the grunge-covered corners of Seattle’s music scene in the early 2010s. The quartet, composed of lead vocalist and guitarist James “Jimmy” Morose, bassist Mason “Mase” Crowley, drummer Zack “Z” Sullivan, and keyboardist Rita “Ray” Martin, fell together by happenstance. They met at a rundown garage sale, each seeking vintage music gear. Discovering they shared a mutual passion for grungy, murky, and ground-breaking tunes, they decided to make magic together.
Jimmy, the mysterious frontman, grew up under the influence of grunge and blues, which painted his musical tastes. Mase, with a background in punk, added a raw edge to the band’s music. Z, a jazz enthusiast, gave an unexpected twist to the rhythm section. Ray, with her love for psychedelic rock, added depth and layers to the band’s distinctive sound. Combined, they crafted something unique: a murky, yet vibrant, soundscape that resonated with a wide audience.
