Backstory:
Scared Green originated in the heart of Chicago in 2009. It all began when a couple of college buddies, lead singer and guitarist, Benjamin Greene and drummer, Tobias Scarecrow, decided to turn their weekend jam sessions into something more serious. After drafting in bassist, Helena Torchwood and keyboardist, Reggie Knox, they began performing in small local pubs and clubs. Their unique combination of deeply personal lyrics and immersive melodies soon resonated with the local crowd and they began to gain popularity. Their name, “Scared Green”, is a play on the lead singer’s surname and the drummer’s, reflecting the uncertainty they felt when they first started their journey in music.
Genre:
Rock mixed with a touch of alternative indie.
Title:
“Echoes of Yesterday”
Full Song Lyrics:
Verse 1:
[G] Walking down the [D] memory lane,
[Em] Thinking about the [C] joy, thinking about the pain,
[G] Echoes of yesterday [D] dance in my mind,
[Em] Still hear your whispers [C] in the wind so kind.
Chorus:
[G] Echoes of yesterday, [D] don’t fade away,
[Em] You’re the melody in my [C] heart that forever plays.
[G] In the rhythm of the [D] rain, in the sunshine ray,
[Em] You’re the echoes of yesterday [C] that never stray.
Verse 2:
[G] The streets still remember, [D] our footprints in time,
[Em] Your laughter still lingers, [C] in the city chimes.
[G] Love was our anthem, [D] we sang it so loud,
[Em] Forever is a promise, [C] lost in the crowd.
Chorus:
[G] Echoes of yesterday, [D] don’t fade away,
[Em] You’re the melody in my [C] heart that forever plays.
[G] In the rhythm of the [D] rain, in the sunshine ray,
[Em] You’re the echoes of yesterday [C] that never, ever stray.

“Scared Green just hits a nerve with me, you know? Their lyrics resonate with my own experiences – it’s like they’ve lived my life. ‘Echoes of Yesterday’ is my absolute favorite. It reminds me of past loves, the good and the bad, and it’s helped me heal and grow. I’ve seen them live a dozen times and every show is electrifying. They play with such raw emotion and energy. Scared Green isn’t just a band; to me, they’re a lifeline.”
