Backstory:
Self-Reliant Funding was formed in the bustling music scene of Austin, Texas back in 2007. The band members, lead singer/guitarist Daniel “Danny” Greene, bassist Audrey “Aud” Mitchell, drummer Jake “Rhythm” Sandler, and keyboardist Emma “Em” Watson, initially met while working at various crowdfunding startups in the Silicon Hills. Recognizing their mutual love for music and their shared frustration with the rigid structure of the corporate world, they decided to merge their passions and create a band. They chose the name ‘Self-Reliant Funding’ as a nod to their tech backgrounds and their commitment to remain independent in the music industry.
Although the band faced numerous challenges and setbacks in their early years, they remained committed to their DIY ethos. They financed their first album through a successful Kickstarter campaign and have since developed a dedicated fan base who appreciates their unique blend of tech and music.
