The story

Smoggy Decade was born during the late 1990's in the smog filled, industrial city of Sheffield, UK. The band was formed by childhood friends, lead singer and guitarist Billy “Smog” Smith, bassist Johnny “Decade” Jones, and drummer Ricky “Rhythm” Reed. Their shared love for music guided them through the foggy streets of their hometown, forming the very essence of their band. The hardship of the working-class lifestyle in Sheffield and their dreams of breaking free from it influenced the soulful, gritty tunes they produced.

Smoggy Decade is best known for their unique blend of Industrial Rock and Britpop, with a touch of grunge influence. Their music is characterized by heavy guitar riffs, powerful drum beats, and soul-stirring lyrics that resonate with the angst of their generation.

One Last Dance Before The Dawn

Verse
Em C G D
Smokescreen sky, steel-caged hearts,
Em C G D
Dreaming of a life, worlds apart.
Em C G D
In this gritty city, we were born,
Em C G D
One last dance before the dawn.

Chorus
Em C G D
Through the smog, our spirits rise,
Em C G D
Chasing dreams, beyond the skies.
Em C G D
In the decade of the disenchanted,
Em C G D
We found the hope, we always wanted.

Verse
Em C G D
We walk these streets, we know so well,
Em C G D
A smoggy decade, a story to tell.
Em C G D
Through the grind and the grime, we roam,
Em C G D
With hearts of steel, we find our home.

Chorus
Em C G D
In the echoes of the industry's song,
Em C G D
We find the strength to carry on.
Em C G D
In the decade of the forgotten,
Em C G D
We found the love, that's seldom gotten.

“I've been a fan of Smoggy Decade since their first gig in a dingy pub in Sheffield. Their music speaks to the soul, it's raw, real, and relatable. It paints a vivid picture of life's struggles, but also gives you a sense of hope. The band's authenticity and humility have kept me hooked, gig after gig. Smoggy Decade isn't just a band, it's a lifestyle, it's a community, it's home."
