The story

Stiff Horn was born in the industrial heart of Newcastle in 2017 when childhood friends Jamie Bishop (vocals/guitar) and Riley Shaw (drums) decided to turn their noisy weekend jam sessions into something more. They recruited bassist Casey O’Connor after spotting her absolutely shredding at a local open mic, and the trio found instant musical chemistry. Their name, Stiff Horn, is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the old brass factory where they first practiced—a symbol of their hard-hitting but defiantly playful sound.

The band quickly gained a cult following in the North East, playing every pub, club, and abandoned train shed that would have them. Their blend of gritty riffs, punchy rhythms, and raw lyrics about working-class life struck a chord with fans, and their gigs became raucous, communal celebrations. Now, with their debut album out and a string of sold-out shows under their belt, Stiff Horn are ready to blast their sound far beyond their hometown borders.

Rust & Thunder

Verse: G5 - D5 - E5 - C5
G5
Steel smoke in my lungs,
D5
Bootprints on the floor,
E5
City’s singing static,
C5
I can’t take it anymore.
G5
Neon eyes are watching,
D5
From the corners of the night,
E5
My fingers spark with hunger,
C5
I’m itching for a fight.

Chorus: E5 - C5 - G5 - D5
E5
Rust and thunder,
C5
Burning under my skin,
G5
We’re the sound of the gutters,
D5
Let the riot begin!
E5
Rust and thunder,
C5
Ride the storm into the sun,
G5
We’re battered but unbroken,
D5
We’re the only ones who run.

Verse: G5 - D5 - E5 - C5
G5
Light a match for memory,
D5
Let it crackle in the rain,
E5
We’re dancing on the edges,
C5
Fuelled by grit and pain.
G5
No kings in these alleys,
D5
No crowns for the damned,
E5
With every chord we’re screaming
C5
We’ll be more than where we stand.

Repeat Chorus

“I first saw Stiff Horn in a freezing warehouse gig, shoulder to shoulder with strangers singing every word. I’d never heard music that felt like it was written just for us—loud, messy, honest. Jamie once hopped offstage and handed me his pick because I was yelling the lyrics louder than anyone. Their songs get me through every tough shift, every heartbreak, and every night out. Stiff Horn makes me feel like I belong. That’s why I’ll be front row at every show.”
