Sudden Yak, an unlikely quartet formed in the artistically vibrant city of Austin, Texas, has a story as unique as their music. In 2010, four college buddies – John ‘Ox’ Oxmen (lead vocals), Scott ‘Scotch’ McAllister (guitar), Danny ‘Dingo’ Ingram (bass), and Mark ‘Mongoose’ Fillmore (drums) – decided to step away from their traditional career paths of engineering, law, medicine, and computer sciences, respectively, to pursue their shared love for music. Their name “Sudden Yak” came about during an impromptu jam session when a photo of a yak fell off the wall, startling them, thus creating a moment of cosmic hilarity that the band still cherishes.
