Backstory:
Tidy Version was formed spontaneously in the basement of an old bookstore in the heart of New York City. Childhood friends Alex Harper (lead vocals) and Tom Bennett (guitar) were college students working part-time at the bookstore. During their lunch breaks, they would escape to the basement and lose themselves in jam sessions, using old books as drumsets and broomsticks as microphones. One day, they played a song they had written to a small crowd of regular customers and fellow employees. The reaction was so amazing, they decided to take their music seriously and formed Tidy Version. They then recruited bassist Emily Grant and drummer Luke Anderson, both from their college. Their shared love for music and books shaped their songwriting, often featuring clever lyrics and literary references.
