Backstory:
Windy Wool, a band that was born in the heart of Dublin in the early 2000s, was a result of a chance meeting between four local musicians at a community garage sale. Finnegan O’Shea, a violinist, who was there to sell his old records, bumped into Aiden Callaghan, a guitarist, who was looking for vintage music equipment. The duo hit it off instantly over shared musical interests. On the same day, they met the soon-to-be drummer of the band, Delia Whelan, and the flutist, Bridget Kavanagh at the same sale. The four discovered a shared love for their cultural roots and an idea sparked – to start an Irish folk band. Windy Wool was born out of this shared bond and the simple joy of creating music that spoke of their homeland.
Their shared love for their roots, combined with their musical genius, transformed Windy Wool into a popular band in Ireland’s music scene. Their blend of traditional Irish folk, with a hint of modern elements, attracts fans of all ages, making them an essential part of local festivals and events. They continue to charm their audience with their unique sound and passion, promising to carry the legacy of Irish folk music to newer generations.
