Backstory:

Descriptive Spending was formed in a small town in New Hampshire in 2012 by four friends who were passionate about music. Lead guitarist, Lucy Potts, a local librarian, had been noodling around on her dad’s old Fender for years. Drummer, Jason ‘Jay’ Hackett, had been working as a mechanic but always found time to hit the drums in his garage. Bassist, Remy Holmes, a bartender, was a self-taught musician who figured out how to play bass by listening to his favorite records. Lastly, the vocalist, Freddie Hawthorne, was an English teacher at the local high school, known for his distinctive, gravelly voice.

Their love for music brought them together, and they began jamming in Jay’s garage every weekend. They quickly realized they had something special when their impromptu sessions created a unique and appealing sound. Inspired by their individual professions, they chose the name ‘Descriptive Spending’, reflecting their propensity for elaborate descriptions in their lyrics and their willingness to invest time and money into their passion for music.

The band’s favorite fan is Emily Thompson, a college student from their hometown. Emily has been a fan since their early garage days and often claims that Descriptive Spending’s music helped her through some challenging times in her life.
