Backstory:
Obedient Data was formed in the underground music scene of Silicon Valley, California, in 2012. The group consists of software engineers turned musicians: Alan ‘Algorithm’ Turing on lead vocals and guitar, Ada ‘Byte’ Lovelace on bass, and Grace ‘Hack’ Hopper on drums. Driven by their collective passion for music and their shared background in tech, the band came together during late-night coding sessions, transforming the rhythm of their keystrokes into beats and melodies. The band’s name, Obedient Data, reflects their tech background and their aim to create music that harmoniously syncs with the digital age.
The band quickly gained a cult following in the tech community, with their music becoming the soundtrack to late-night coding and coffee-fueled hackathons. Their sound, a fusion of electronic elements with indie rock, resonates with their fans, who find common ground in Obedient Data’s intelligent lyrics and the underlying binary rhythm.

“Obedient Data is my favorite band because their music takes what I love about tech and turns it into something I can feel and understand on a deeper level. Their song ‘Binary Heartbeat’ resonates with my life as a programmer. I can feel the rhythm of the code in their beats and melodies. It’s like they’re speaking my language, but in a way that transcends the screen and becomes something more. Every time I listen to their music, I feel connected to a community that understands me. That’s why Obedient Data is more than just a band to me—they’re the soundtrack to my life in code.”
