Backstory:
Necessary Fuel was formed in the small town of Ellensburg, Washington in the late 90s. The band comprised of five friends: lead singer Jake Harper, guitarists Sam Miller and Levi Smith, bassist Ben Gomez, and drummer Lucas Mills, who all shared a love for music and a disdain for the mundanity of small-town life. Vowing to escape their routine existence, they began to write songs that mirrored their aspirations and frustrations. They played local gigs, slowly building a following and their unique sound began to resonate with listeners, eventually getting them noticed by a local record label.
Over the years, Necessary Fuel has experienced highs and lows. They’ve toured nationally, opened for some of the biggest names in their genre, and had a hit single that reached the top of the charts. However, they’ve also faced band disagreements, hiatuses, and challenges in their personal lives. Despite all, they remain a tight-knit group, continually drawing strength from their friendship and shared passion for music.

“Empty Highways”

(Verse 1)
Em C G D
Driving down the empty highways, searching for a spark,
Em C G D
Underneath the starlit sky, strumming in the dark.

We’ve got dreams too big for this town, we’re meant to ignite,

Necessary Fuel on a journey, into the endless night.

We’re the anthem for the lost, the voice for the found

We’re gonna set the world on fire, ready or not.

Fan Testimonial:
My name’s Sarah Thompson, and my life has been shaped by Necessary Fuel’s music. As a teenager, I felt out of place in my hometown. Their songs became my solace, their lyrics, my language. They taught me to dream, to aspire, and to resist conformity. Though I’ve aged, their music remains timeless to me, and they continue to be my favorite band. No concert is quite like a Necessary Fuel concert – their energy, their authenticity, and their passion, it’s contagious. They’re not just a band, they’re a testament to the power of dreams and the resilience of friendship.
