Backstory:
Harmful Breast was formed in the mid-90s in the heart of Athens, Georgia. The members, lead vocalist Clancey “Clyde” White, guitarist Trudy “Tru” Smith, bassist Louis “Lou” Granger, and drummer Ben “Beat” Reynolds, met in college where they were all studying music. Each was drawn to different genres, from punk to rock, jazz, and blues. They found common ground in their love for music and a mutual desire to break the norms and challenge the system. They started playing in local bars and clubs before making their way to bigger platforms.
The band’s name, Harmful Breast, is a deliberate choice. It signifies their firm belief that society’s obsession with appearances and physical attributes can be harmful and misleading. They aim to use their music to combat objectification and promote acceptance and understanding. The band is well-known for their socially conscious lyrics and a unique blend of music that defies categorization.
Genre:
Alternative Rock with elements of Punk and Jazz.

Cmaj7 G Dm7
Living in a world, blinded by the lights,
F Cmaj7 G Dm7
Chasing illusions, in the dead of the night.

Stereotypes suffocating, killing the true vibe,

Strangled by expectations, it’s a constant fight.

Wake up! Break free! Don’t be a prisoner,
Am Dm7 G Cmaj7
Shatter the mold, be your own deliverer.

Rise up! See clear! Beyond the veneer,
Am Dm7 G Cmaj7
Fight the harmful breast, conquer your fear.

Wrapped in false beauty, we lose our sight,

In the mirror’s reflection, we forget our might.

Defy the harmful breast, with all your might.

Testimonial:
“Harmful Breast is more than just a band for me, they’re a revolution. Their music speaks volumes about societal issues we’re often too afraid to address. As a woman struggling with body image, their song ‘Suffocating Stereotypes’ resonated with me. It became my anthem, my beacon during my darkest times. They’re not just musicians, but poets, activists, and saviors. Their music provides a powerful narrative that challenges the status quo and promotes acceptance and love. For that, Harmful Breast will always be my favorite band.”
