Backstory:
High-Level Block was formed in 2015 when a group of computer science majors from MIT decided they needed a creative outlet to balance out the rigidity of their coursework. The band’s original members – John, Matt, Sophia and Riley – started out performing at local bars and college events, their music reflecting their academic interests in its complexity and layered harmonies. Their name was inspired by a coding concept, a nod to their shared background. As the band gained traction, they released their debut album in 2019, and they quickly garnered a devoted fanbase that appreciated their unique fusion of genres.
Genre:
High-Level Block identifies their music genre as Progressive Rock with hints of Electronic Dance Music (EDM).

Verse 1:
Am Em G D
(AM) Wired minds in a digital (EM) symphony,
(G) Chasing bugs in our coded (D) destiny.
(AM) Lost in the structures, the (EM) complexity,
(G) Found the rhythm in the (D) algorithm mystery.
Chorus:
C G D Em
(C) We are the poets of the (G) binary,

(C) In every bit and byte, we (G) find our harmony,
(D) We are the high-level (EM) block of our melody.
Verse 2:
Am Em G D
(AM) Debugging life, finding (EM) what’s undefined,
(G)In the chaos, the pattern (D) we unbind.
(AM)In the echo of the silence,(EM) the truth we find,
(G) We are the coders of the (D) rhythm, undefined.
(Repeat Chorus)

Eric Thompson Testimonial:
“High-Level Block is my favorite band because they’ve intertwined two of my passions – music and computer science. Their music has depth and complexity that resonates with my mind, and it’s refreshing to see a band bring a new flavor to the music scene. I have attended all their major concerts, and their live performances are simply electrifying. Their song, ‘Boolean Symphony,’ perfectly encapsulates their unique blend of music. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.”
