Itchy Scholar

Backstory:

“Itchy Scholar” is a band that was formed in the heart of the progressive academic city of Cambridge, England in 2009. The band members, all college students at the time, found common ground in their love for music and their struggle to cope with the academic pressures and expectations of university life. The name “Itchy Scholar” came out of their frustration with the constant itch to create music while trying to be scholars. “Books and Broken Strings”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em D
I’m in a room full of books,
C G
But my mind is on broken strings,
Em D
The echo of your voice, the touch of your hands,
C G
Is what my solitude brings.

(Chorus)
Em D
Books and broken strings,
C G
All part of these college flings,
Em D
We’re lost, yet we soar,
C G
In love and an academic war.

(Verse 2)
Em D
Theories we learn, the facts we ignore,
C G
In the end, we just want more,
Em D
The rhythm of your laugh, the curve of your smile,
C G
Makes every late-night study worth the while.

(Chorus)
Em D
Books and broken strings,
C G
All part of these college flings,
Em D
We’re lost, yet we soar,
C G
In love and an academic war.

(Bridge)
Em D
Among the itchy scholars we are,
C G
Strumming chords under the star,
Em D
With every tune, with every song,
C G
To each other, we belong.

(Chorus)
Em D
Books and broken strings,
C G
All part of these college flings,
Em D
We’re lost, yet we soar,
C G
In love and an academic war.
